Ever since BlackVelvetBand posed the Shunsui/Nanao challenge over at ff.net, I've been thinking that this community needs to have a challenge. And not one of those lame-o challenges that everyone says "sure, I'll enter" and then never does, but an ACTUAL challenge that people actually enter. Surely this will be good, Y/N?

In order to gague people's opinions, I propose we have a poll (because making polls is fun!). If the "yes" (or equivelant) option gets enough votes, I will pose a challenge and hopefully it will be good and it will WIN.

Welcome to my very own home-grown poll. To vote, simply put the numbers that you choose in your comments and I will count them with my 1337 manual counting skills because fortunately school at least taught me basic arithmetic.

The question: So, do we do this challenge?

I think my general problem with challenges is that, while I like the idea, I'm very bad at writing something unless I can come up with a way to make it (in my head) plausible, and a lot of the time, I can't do that with prompts.

That said, I'm all for the idea of challenges. Sometimes, even if it doesn't fit the challenge criteria, something makes one's brain go, "Ooh!" and pick up an idea.

Ooh goodie! I agree, the community needs to be livened up. Course, it would help if we had an active mod; the current one has apparently lost interest in all things bleach and no longer has anything to do with the community... I wonder if he/she would consider transferring modship over to someone else... *ponders*

I dunno. I'm thinking that I will contact the original mod and ask him/her. You can have more than one mod in a community, right? Cos there are several people who are quite active in this community (aside myself) who I think would make quite good mods. Once I have talked to the original mod, I think I will make a post asking people if anyone feels like being a mod, asking if the community minds us taking over, etc etc etc. And rest assured, there will be polls and THEY WILL WORK!

Of course, all my fics are centered around 8 so... yeah, I think I'm not very original. ^_^

Anywho, I have a similar dilemma to what myalchod said in that I tend to struggle getting the prompt to fit something in my head since my muse is quite fickle - but I'm all for seeing the options and trying to make one work!

Would it work better if the challenges had multiple prompts with the option of using either one or all depending on which bit inspires you? For example if each challenge had 4 prompts you could choose which of them you wanted to use?

For me, the best part of bleach is soul society aside from Ichigo/Rukia verbal and/or physical sparring so I've been struggling through the current arc. Though I do like the most recent... "evolution" *says no more for spoilers* XD

Yeah, I prefer the soul society arc too. I am just in love with the gotei 13, so the recent arc has me sad too and not even boobies-chan can make up for that. Actually I personally thought that the evolution was cooler before it... evolved... does that even make sense? *lols at attempting to be cryptic*

I lol'd @ "boobies-chan" I also liked the evolution before, but I honestly thought it was impossible to be any cuter and somehow massively improbable assets aside is cuter now. *also fails at being non-spoilery*

I wouldn't say I'm newish, because I posted some fics back in June and July, though I can see how posting things in June/July for this comm means new. XD; (I just got into Bleach in the summer, despite knowing about it for a year or more because I'm more into j-pop and not really an anime fan.)

Hmmm June isn't that new. I only got into blech/joined the comm late last year. As for not being a huge anime fan, I'm not a massive one either. I have a few fandoms that I enjoy, but other than that I'm not really out-there and knowledgable about manga/anime. J-pop is good though! Its actually thanks to bleach that I have started getting into it and now I love it!

Totally would enjoy seeing the community do something. Personally, I'm a slow writer... so I don't know how well I would do with a challenge. (i'm still working on my fic that i started like last december...)

But, if I'm inspired by the challenge, I will probably attempt to write one... although... I'm afraid if I"m too slow... then you won't see the fic till way, way after the challenge was completed.

Well I'll make sure there is plenty of time; a month at the very least. Also, I am thinking of putting in a category of "best flashfic" or "best oneshot" or something similar to cater for people who wish to enter a shorter fic. Plus, nothing you write has to be too long.

Agreed. If the current challenge goes well perhaps I'll consider running another on in a few months time.
